Figure 7.4 Megiddo Ivory

This ivory plaque was found at Megiddo and dates to the time of the judges. The drawing depicts a Canaanite king seated on a throne in the shape of a winged sphinx. He is receiving an entourage returning from war which includes two bound captives. Jabin, a northern Canaanite king, dominated the Israelites, perhaps in like manner.
