isaiah 9

在黑暗中生活的人民，看見了一道皓光；住在死亡陰影下的人，已有光輝照耀他們。你增添了他們的喜悅，使他們歡樂洋溢；他們在你面前喜慶忭躍，正像人收割時的快樂，又像分享戰利品時的歡欣，因為你粉碎了他們背負的枷鎖，折斷了他們肩上的橫木，摧毀了壓迫者的棍棒，有如從前在米德楊那天一樣。因為有一個嬰兒為我們誕生了，有一個兒子賜給了我們；他肩負著王權，堪稱奇妙的謀士、大能的天主、永恆之父、和平之君。

The people who walked in darkness
have seen a great light;
those who lived in a land of deep darkness—
on them light has shined.
You have multiplied the nation,
you have increased its joy;
they rejoice before you
as with joy at the harvest,
as people exult when dividing plunder.
For the yoke of their burden,
and the bar across their shoulders,
the rod of their oppressor,
you have broken as on the day of Midian.
For all the boots of the tramping warriors
and all the garments rolled in blood
shall be burned as fuel for the fire.
For a child has been born for us,
a son given to us;
authority rests upon his shoulders;
and he is named
Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light; on those who lived in a land as dark as death a light has dawned. You have increased their joy and given them great gladness; they rejoice in your presence as those who rejoice at harvest, as warriors exult when dividing spoil.

For you have broken the yoke that burdened them, the rod laid on their shoulders, the driver's goad, as on the day of Midian's defeat.

For a boy has been born for us, a son given to us; he will bear the symbol of dominion on his shoulder, and his title will be: in purpose wonderful, in battle God-like, Father for all time (of a wide realm), Prince of peace.
